Book Three - Book Three Out Now

Well, it's been a busy few weeks, but I'm delighted to announce that the first episode of Book 3 is now available. There are seven episodes to Book III, and they will be released weekly (you can see a countdown on the homepage). If you haven't already caught up with the story - why not?! ;-) - you can read the 'previously' text on the Book III page. I do hope you enjoy the third part of the Heavenfield novel, and thank you all for your patience in waiting so long for it's release! Right, I'm off for a Very Large glass of wine... Cheers!
Book Three - The Countdown Has Begun

Well, I've finally gone and set a date for the release of Book III ! It should give you enough time to catch up on the previous episodes, and hopefully give me enough time to mix everything! I've put a countdown on the website, which you can put on your desktop if you fancy, and I'll update the progress bars on the website as I go, so you can keep up-to-date with how the editing is coming on. I've really enjoyed the final few recording sessions - they've had some of my favourite parts of the story in them. I hope you enjoy it too! Cheers! IG<div class="feedflare">

Book Three recording underway

After a few abortive attempts, battling through the inevitable computer misery (why can't they ever just work properly???), I'm very pleased to announce that the recording of Book Three is well underway! It always seems like an enormous task ahead of me, so I've split the work into sections and am ticking them off as I go along. It's been a while since I revisited the story, and it's really enjoyable immersing myself again. The characters are all old friends, and there are a few twists and surprises that still keep me on the edge of my seat! You can keep up-to-date with how the recording is progressing on the Book Three page of the website. Enjoy! IG<div class="feedflare">

Interview at the Scifi Diner

I recently had a great time talking to the wonderful Scott and Miles from the Scifi Diner Podcast site. They interviewed me on all things about the Heavenfield story and the surrounding art. It was quite surreal, as we did the interview over Skype and it was 6pm their time and 11pm for me. That meant I may have consumed one-too-many glasses of wine, so my apologies if I slur! ;) As well as my interview there's loads of interesting news on scifi in general from two great guys who really know the genre. I hope you enjoy it! IG<div class="feedflare">

New Visions

A couple of days ago I got an email from a friend who I hadn't spoken to for a long time. For those of you who enjoyed the Heavenfield theme tune you may recognise the name of Steven Herbert, who wrote and performed the music along with his wife Jacqueline. He also happens to be a remarkable artist, and he told me casually that he had created some visions of the landscape of The Heavenfield. When I saw them I was astonished - they were the best representations of the Field I have ever seen, and I greedily appropriated them for the website! So a big thank you to Steven for inspiring me and giving me the energy to re-vamp the website - I think it's a really great improvement! I've put the other images that Steven sent me in the Forum. Check them out they're amazing!<div class="feedflare">

The Leviathan Chronicles

Leviathan Chronicles. It's a little late this, but I just wanted to let you all know about a great podcast called the Leviathan Chronicles. For those who haven't heard of it, it is a fantastic story featuring the voices of over 60 actors, professional sound effects and an original music soundtrack. The story is centered on a hidden city called Leviathan that lies deep within the dark trenches of the Pacific Ocean. The city is home to a community of immortals that sought to create a utopia over 1,000 years ago. For a millennia, they lived in peace and secrecy, gently influencing world events to aid the advancement of mankind. But a terrible secret has been kept deep within the catacombs of Leviathan that threatens the existence of the immortals, and quite possibly the entire world. The website has just gone through a complete redesign and there's loads of great artwork and goodies to download. www.leviathanchronicles.com Check it out now!<div class="feedflare">

Book Four Paperback Out 10th June!

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I've set a release date for the final part of the Heavenfield story! Book Four is due for release on Lulu.com on the 10th of June. It's been a long time getting to this point, but you finally get the opportunity to find out what happens to Grace, Thomas, Alex and all the other inhabitants of the Heavenfield world. Thanks for your patience! I'm sticking with the seperate book format for the time-being, but hopefully I'll also be able to get the complete story out in a single volume soon. I'm just looking into short-run publications at the moment, so I'll keep you posted. The four books look great as a Collector's Set, and you never know, could become quite a desirable rarity in the future! The first three Books are currently available from the Heavenfield Shop. I hope you enjoy! IG<div class="feedflare">

Book Three Paperback Out Now!

Hiya! It's been a hectic time for me recently. I finally gave in and launched myself into writing a sequel to The Heavenfield. I thought it had been a long time coming, but I discovered that I'd actually been writing a lot of it without realising! I spent a long time working on a storyline for how I'd envisage a computer game to run, and in doing so came up with a lot of ideas which have found their way into this new book. Progress is slow, but really exciting. I'm plugging away every evening and there have been quite a few revelations which have had me on the edge of my seat! Anyway, all this means that I have neglected the recording of Book Three. I'm really sorry to leave everyone hanging, so to try and make up for it I've decided to release the Paperback Version on Lulu.com. Together the three books make a great-looking Collector's Set and I've put the price right down for a limited time. Lulu are also doing a free shipping coupon until the 5/5/10, so now's your chance to continue the story and get a very collectible piece of Heavenfield history at the same time! The Books are available from the Heavenfield Shop. I hope you enjoy! I G<div class="feedflare">

Thumbs Up!

Hi. I know it's been a while since my last news, but I've got a good reason - honest! But more on that later... At the moment I just want to let you know about a fabulous review The Heavenfield received recently. Many thanks to Craig for this one - it really tops-up the hope reserves! You can read it on his Podiobook Reviews site - there's a link from the Heavenfield news page. Another thing that caught my attention the other day was a great comment from a listener on the Podiobooks site. I copied it onto the forum, you can read it there, it really made me laugh!
You're A Winner!

Hiya, I'm just uploading Episode Twelve today, and I thought I'd just take the opportuninty to share some good news! I was mooching about podiobooks.com (one of the biggest sites for podcast audiobooks), where I also upload the Heavenfield story. When I checked out my entry I was happily surprised to see a big shiny prize sign next to it! Apparently the Heavenfield has won the 2009 Founder's Choice Award for 'excellence in serialized audiobook production'! Cool! I G<div class="feedflare">

New Forum Online

Hiya!As Episode Eleven goes live tonight, we're already halfway into Book Two! The pace is picking up as Alex and his companions try to get back through the Heavenfield to the Fortress, but meet a nightmarish army of creatures. Grace Palmer is discovering that awkward eccentric Thomas Sullivan may be the key to understanding and manipulating the Heavenfield. Thomas, meanwhile, is discovering more of the mysterious history of the Heavenfield Project... I'd also like to let you know that I've set up a Forum on my website, and would love it if you could take a moment to visit and maybe register.
Book II Podcast Out Tomorrow!

Hi Everybody, I'm excited to say that the next installment of The Heavenfield will begin at 12 midnight gmt on Christmas Eve! There are seven episodes on the way, released weekly. I've enjoyed recording this part of the story, though with the birth 6 weeks ago of my little baby daughter Annabel, things have been quite hectic recently! The story calms down after the ending of Book One, and we can get to know some of the characters a little better. And I've enjoyed mixing the soundtracks - some parts get quite spooky later on! So make sure you've refreshed your memory on Book One, and settle down to listen as the story continues! Best Wishes and A very Merry Christmas! I G<div class="feedflare">

Cameo Appearance!

Hi Everybody, If you are a fan of the wonderful podcaast series 'The Leviathan Chronicles' by Christof Laputka, you may have noticed a reference to The Heavenfield in Episode 20. Christof wrote to me saying he was a fan of Book I, and to acknowledge that, could he have one of his characters mention the Standing Point Field. Already being an admirer of his work, I said I would be delighted. Then, a little later, Christof asked if I would say a small cameo line for Episode 22. So if you listen to the episode, keep an eye out and you may hear me make an appearance! www.leviathanchronicles.com I G<div class="feedflare">

Book II Out Soon!

Hi Everybody,
Well, winter is upon us and the nights are drawing in, so, as with most people in the uk, it's time to be indoors and get some work done.
I've been progressing slowly over the summer with the recording of Book II, and the recent birth of my baby daughter has kept me wonderfully distracted!

But the next installment is in sight - with all the recording completed and the first four of the seven chapters mixed and mastered.
I've been enjoying the process at the moment, as this is one of my favourite parts of the story.
Things have calmed down a little after the action towards the end of Book I, giving the opportunity to get to know some of the characteres a little better.

So thanks for all your patience over the summer, and I'l keep you all posted on the launch date of Book II.
        I G<div class="feedflare">

Hi Everybody,
Just to to let you know that I've been working on some T-shirt designs, and now you can become te proud owner of a Heavenfield T-shirt or Hoodie!
I've just got one design so far - an emblem which sums up the story to me - I hope you like it!

The shop is currently run through CafePress.com, and there are T-shirts. Hoodies and a bag available. I intend to get some more designs together soon from the images on the site, and if there are any which you would especially like to see, then get in touch and I'll see what i can do!

On a different note, I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank J.C Hutchins for his support and encouragement.
Anyone who knows about podcasts will be familiar with the name J C Hutchins, whose award-winning 7th Son series has been one of the most popular podacsts of all times.

While I was preparing to launch The Heavenfield, I sent some emails off to other podcast authors, and was wonderfully suprised to receive a reply of encouragement from J C, and an offer to link me on his website, and play a promo on his podcast.
It was a delightful show of generosity, and I heartily recommend that you visit his website and check out his upcoming novel 'Personal Effects: Dark Arts'.

The Story Continues!

Hi everybody,

The days are flying by and suddenly it's time for Episode Three!

Here's a quick run-down of the story so far...

Grace Palmer's suspicions prove correct, as she finds proof of foul play in Pattie's medical records, and determines to cut short the expedition into the Heavenfield.

But the Accelerator Array brings back only one body – Pattie's. Her contact with the atmosphere in the Heavenfield has had disastrous consequences. With her death, the fantastic landscape has reduced to dust and a howling sandstorm engulfs the four remaining team members. But the storm also heralds the arrival of a terrifying entity – some devil-like creature. Saul Davisson and Gary Starling flee into the dust clouds, running direction-less until they fall from exhaustion.
As the scientists at the Maunsworth Research Facility prepare again for the return of the team, an act of sabotage by Dan Earl leads to an explosion within the Accelerator Array that could strand the team in the Heavenfield...

I hope you are all enjoying the story so far, and if you haven't listened to it yet, then it's time to catch up before you're left behind! ;o)

        Best Wishes

One Week to go!

Hi everybody,

just a quick note to say that launch day is looming ever closer, and interest has been rising significantly. I've been getting some wonderful feedback about the first episode and the website, and it's given me a great boost of inspiration.
Jake Wells, who has helped build the websites, has been busy doing great work behind the scenes, so I'd just like to say a big thanks to him!
Our iTunes listing is gaining in popularity (visit iTunes store and search for The Heavanfield), but please, if you have the time, anybody who could add a review to help get the entry up the listings would be much appreciated!
Although things are hectic here, I've just started listening to a great podcast which I thought deserved a mention. It's called The Leviathan Chronicles (http://www.theleviathanchronicles.com).
It's recorded like a radio play, with actors, music and sound effects, and if you've not come across it before, then it's well worth a listen.
Anyway, I intend to launch The Heavenfield at midnight on the 17th, and make it a bit of an event, so I hope you'll join me!

        Best wishes

Well it's busy busy time getting everything prepared for launch date, but I just wanted to
take a moment to thank everyone for their wonderful comments and support.
I've been blown away by the amount of people who have expressed their enjoyment of the
first episode in wonderful emails and reviews.
A Big Thank You to All! :)
One thing I'm excited about at the moment is I've just had the first copies of Book One from the
printers, and I'm really pleased with the covers.
It will be available to buy after the last episode of the podcast is aired through Lulu.com.
I'm planning on a short break after the release of the first book, before the Book Two
serials are released, but I'll keep you posted as we go on.

A Change of Venue...

I’ve just moved house recently, so things are still a bit up in the air, but I’ve
managed to get my recording room up and running (see right), and have just found
enough time to get some more recording and editing done.

I set myself the goal of recording the entire first book (the novel is split into
four), and, apart from a few tweaks here and there it’s all done!...<div class="feedflare">

Editing, Editing, Editing!

Although The Heavenfield novel has been complete for some five years now, I have always been constantly re-reading and editing it. In the summer of 2008 my good friend Chris Ellis read through the manuscript and offered to help edit it further. It’s been great having someone with a fresh perspective cast a critical eye over it, and it’s really helped to tighten the story up. We are currently about halfway through the second book, and I’ll keep you posted as we progress....<div class="feedflare">
